Gajraj (Raj) Singh Purawat

Gajraj has been a licensed guide for 15 years and helps Big Five Tours & Expeditions’ guests discover North India. He has an accredited diploma in tourism and a Senior Secondary from Maharana Mewar Public School in Udaipur, India. Gajraj has a masters in art and history with a special focus on the Mughal era. He has studied religion and local customs of tribal people in Rajasthan. He is an ideal guide to help Big Five Tours & Expeditions clients explore history, art, architecture and cultures as well as wildlife of the region.

He has worked with a wide variety of clients including museum groups such as the Chicago Art Institute.  have been fortunate to have a exposure to a diverse profile of clients. When Gajraj is not guiding, he enjoys cycling and has “a passion for cricket and badminton.”  He is also an avid reader.

Deependra Singh Rajawat

Deependra is from Gudha Salt, a small village, some 37 miles/60 kilometers from Jaipur. He is from a Rajput family and lies in his 200-year-old ancestral home near Sambhar Lake that he shares with his extended family, including his great grandmother down to his own children and their cousins. He and his family help support two children from his village. The family also shares a home in Jodhpur.

He earned Bachelor of Commerce, Economics Honors as well as a P.G. Masters of Tourism Administration, both from J.N.V. University of Jodhpur. He spent two years successfully managing a hotel in rural Rajasthan, where he developed a new camp site for horse safaris and trekking programs in the Aravali Mountain Range before turning to guiding.

Guiding has become Deependra’s passion over the last six years. He leads Big Five Tours & Expedition’s travelers discover the landscapes, people and cultures of Northern and Western India. He is enthusiastic and committed to sharing his India and his local community with our guests.
