Today we had to wake up super early to begin our journey to the galapagos. We took a plane and then were picked up by buses. Once we got off of the buses we boarded a smaller boat in order to finally arrive on our cruise ship. The boat only has 75 people aboard but our room is nice and the food is pretty good. Today we took a hike on one of the islands. The dry landing was difficult for some of the people in our group since you step onto a somewhat slippery rock. While on the hike we saw some iguanas and other various birds. It seems as though our hike/trip today was a trial to see how we all do and tomorrow is when the real fun will begin.
Today we met our guide oswaldo (our guide) and went into old town Quito. We had the chance to visit a convent since Oswaldo's aunt is in it. We also saw the Ecuadorian white house. Later, we drove out to the country and had a fabulous lunch on the edge of a crater. We also had a chance to stand on the equator and do all these fun experiments to prove that we were in fact on the equator. Later tonight, we are going back to old town for a buggy ride and to watch a dance performance.
