Day 1:  Belize City, Belize / San Ignacio
Welcome to Belize!  You are met at the Belize International Airport by a representative of your resort.  Settle in to your private vehicle and relax as you drive 90 minutes to the lushly landscaped Ka’ana Boutique Resort & Spa, your home for the next five nights.  Ka’ana Boutique Resort – Master Casita

Day 2:  San Ignacio
Today is at leisure to use as you wish.  Relax with a rejuvenating spa treatment, go for a swim, explore the lush surroundings of the five-star resort.  Ka'ana Boutique Resort – Master Casita (B)

Day 3:  San Ignacio - Xunantunich
Xunantunich, Maiden of the Rock, is situated on the Western Highway across the river from the village of San Jose Succotz. This ancient Maya City is accessed by an old-world, hand-cranked ferry. The site provides an impressive view of the entire river valley. El Castillo rises 40 meters/131 feet above plaza level, making it one of the tallest buildings in Belize. On this structure there are two temples. The lower temple is famous for its large stucco frieze.  Ka'ana Boutique Resort – Master Casita (B,L,D)

Day 4: San Ignacio - Actun Tunichil Muknal
The day’s focus is the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave in the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve.  Your adventure begins with a hike through the jungle, followed by a swim into the cave.  Once inside, you crawl through tunnels and passageways of one of the most preserved and protected Mayan sites in the world.  You do this in the company of a prominent archaeologist who has personally excavated Belize’s major finds.  The cave was once the exclusive terrain of Mayan priests, who came here to perform rituals, including sacrifices.  Become immersed in the history and the ceremony of a significant period of Mayan civilization. Ka'ana Boutique Resort – Master Casita   (B,L)

Day 5:  San Ignacio
Today is at leisure to do as you wish.  Or, select one of the optional activities such as horseback riding, cave tubing or canoeing, or use the day to explore neighboring Guatemala's spectacular Mayan site of Tikal. Ka'ana Boutique Resort – Master Casita (B)

Day 6:  San Ignacio / Placencia
Today you transfer to San Ignacio airstrip for your flight to Placencia. On arrival, you are welcomed and transferred to your beachside hideaway, Turtle Inn, owned by Francis and Eleanor Coppola, who have created a magnificent 25-room hotel that consistently ranks among the best in Latin America.  The remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy the property and the beach or book an optional activity that includes snorkeling and scuba diving, fishing, swimming, canoeing, bicycling, and zip lining . Days 7-10:  Placencia
Over the next three days, you choose how active you wish to be, taking part in the activities at the resort or setting out on an optional tour.  You can explore the late-classic Maya ceremonial site of Nim Li Punit and its small but informative museum. Or,  take in the three plazas of the  Lubaantun Maya site and Rio Blanco Waterfalls and an afternoon swim. You can opt for a journey into the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary and Jaguar Preserve, the world’s only jaguar preserve.  It is also a superb place for birding, hiking and wildlife viewing. Hiking trails are well marked and range from easy to more challenging. You may encounter howler monkeys, agouyi brocket deer and peccary. You can opt to go boating on Monkey River, observing tropical birds, iguanas, crocodiles and more as you pass through mangrove estuaries at the edge of the lagoon, home of the manatee, and hike trails through the rainforest to view families of howler monkeys.  Turtle Inn - Seafront Cottage (B)

Day 11: Placencia / Belize City / Depart
You are transferred to the airport in Belize City for you onward flight. (B)
