Family friendly activities

Chongwe River House sits on the banks of the peaceful Chongwe River, a tributary of the Zambezi, amid a thick grove of winterthorn trees.  The private house is designed for up to eight guests.  Ground floor bedrooms are entered via a curved tunnel that offers privacy without need of doors.  Downstairs bathrooms have water pouring from a stone ceiling, while the upstairs showers are waterfalls.  Exquisitely carved basins were created from wood and white marble by the famous Zambian artist, Eddie Mumba. Activities are exclusive to the house guests, who have at their disposal the use of canoes, a boat, and a private vehicle.  Chongwe specializes in walking safaris, which present an extraordinary opportunity for a more intimate experience of the African bush.  Fish for one of the world's premiere game fish, tiger fish.  Chongwe River House is suitable for families with children seven or older, and a wide range of activities, independent of parents if desired, are available as is a sitter.  In addition to lion, hippo, buffalo and other game animals, the Chongwe area is known for huge male elephants, and herds up to a 100 strong.
