India is a very culturally rich and intriguing country with many things to discover. It can be very difficult deciding exactly what you would like to do when traveling to a country as diverse as India, so Destination Specialist Colin Rose sat down to ask some commonly asked questions about traveling to India.

Q: What are some of the most exciting places to visit in India?

A: Northern India is ideal for anyone traveling to India for the first time. This is where a majority of the history, culture and architecture comes from.  Many of the stories about the mystique of India are from the northern area. India as a whole is a very diverse country and its recommended to travel as much as you can while in the country because there are 26 states that each have their own respective highlights. One particular place you will definitely want to visit is the Taj Mahal. It is known around the world for its majesty and wonder.

Q: What would be the best time of year to visit India?

A: It really depends on which part of India you visit. Southern India is very warm and wet from June to September. The heat can sometimes surprise travelers. Ideally you would want to travel to India as a whole from the end of October to March. During this time the weather is more ideal.

 Q: What is India best known for?

A: India is well known for its diversity, culture, cuisine and of course, the Taj Mahal.

Q: What is Indian cuisine like?

A: Indian cuisine is very diverse. The food in northern India is very spicy and is famous for its uses of curry. Southern India the food is largely vegetarian and some might consider it a bit bland.  Food from the south is less spicy compared to food in the north.

 Q: Is there any unique wildlife in India?

A: In terms of wildlife, people from all over the world come to India to see the tigers. There are many game parks that allow travelers to view these animals. India is the only country that will allow travelers the opportunity to see a tiger in the wild. It is a very enriching experience.
