Discover China with Destination Specialist Tatiana Johnston
China is a very popular travel destination that has so much to offer that it can be overwhelming. Destination Specialist Tatiana Johnston has a deep enthusiasm for China and took the time to answer a few questions about China to help future travelers decide where to spend their time.
Q: What are some exciting places to visit in China?
A: Many travelers want to travel to the bigger cities when they arrive in China. Beijing and Shanghai have been popular destinations for a very long time. There are very unique experiences available to travelers in Shanghai, such as taking a tour of the city in a World War 2 era motorcycle with a side car. While the big cities are fun, be sure to take time to visit smaller cities such as Guilin where you can experience what traditional Chinese life was like before modern influence.
Q: When is the best time of year to visit China?
A: The best times to travel to China are from March to February. This is when the weather is the mildest. It gets much hotter starting in May until August.
Q: What is China best known for?
A: There are so many great things in this country, but China is probably most famous for its history architecture, art, and food.
Q: What is Chinese food like?
A: The cuisine of China can vary depending on what area you are in. In some places you will find an abundance of spicy flavors while in others there is a prevailing sweet and sour flavor. The best advice I have is to travel around the country and see what different places have to offer. Travelers are usually a bit nervous about Chinese cuisine; however the food is very delicious!
Q: Is there any special wildlife in China?
A: Yes! If you are an animal lover, you will definitely want to pay a visit to Chengdu to see the pandas. These pandas are amazing to see and it’s possible to have up close experiences with them. This is definitely an experience you would never forget.
