Day 1: Arrive San Jose, Costa Rica

Day 2: San Jose / Tortuguero

Day 3: Tortuguero / Poas Volcano / Monteverde
Begin a 2-day adventure in Costa Rica’s cloud forests, among the most beautiful and biologically rich of environments. Travel by air back to San Jose and overland to the smoldering crater of Poas Volcano, and hike in the surrounding cloud forest to an extinct crater and sea-green lake. Day 4: Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
Step into the primeval world of Monteverde, a great greenhouse of old-growth cloud forest, full of birds and splendid trees heaped with orchids, ferns, and lianas. With an expert guide, scope out the unusual flora and best views. Later, glide through the treetops on the Sky Trek cable-and-harness system for an adventurous, bird’s eye view of the canopy. Day 5: Monteverde / Tamarindo
