Day 1: Quito / Amazon Jungle Basin - Kapawi Reserve
Depart early morning on an overland drive through the Avenue of the Volcanoes, stopping at a hacienda for breakfast and passing by the Cotopaxi, Illiniza and Chimborazo volcanoes. Descend the Andes to Shell where we board a flight to Kapawi and arrive to your remote ecolodge in the land of the Achuar, a vibrant indigenous culture. Beautifully crafted according to native techniques, of natural materials without a single nail, Kapawi helps support and preserve the Achuar culture and habitat and was built with attention to ecological detail. Days 2-4: Amazon Jungle Basin – Kapawi Reserve
Kapawi offers a flexible menu of activities each day, for all ability levels, led by Achuar guides and naturalist guides as well. From hikes and piranha fishing, to canoeing and Achuar village visits, to exploratory journeys and overnight camping, Kapawi offers an unparalleled depth of experience and cultural access. Between excursions, relax in the bar and lounge, browse the well-endowed library, or flop into a hammock and scan the lagoon for birds and monkeys. Kapawi Ecolodge (B,L,D-daily)
Day 5: Amazon Jungle Basin / Quito
Canoe on the Capahuari River to the Kapawi community, appreciating the wonderful nature and ecosystem. Perhaps see birds, dolphins and butterflies. Board a flight back to Quito, where you are met and transferred to your hotel. (B)
